Everyone can use a fresh set of clothing from time to time, budget friendly clothing that is. Especially since the festive season is right around the corner, you may want to get an item or two for when you have to step out or dress up. But, and that’s big BUT, I know that not everyone has the same inflow of money and even if you are big on dough, clothing may not be your number one priority and it doesn’t have to be.
So, how do you give your wardrobe that update it needs without emptying your coffers?
It’s easy. Don’t shop at all.
Okay I’m kidding. This is how;
- Clean out your closet.
I can’t emphasize on this enough. We are likely to forget we own some pieces because we’ve gotten used to having some specific items on rotation. So, I’ll say it again. The best thing you can do for yourself if you’re trying to save money is to clean out your closet. Chances are you’ll find items you totally forgot you had. This way you’re not wasting money on items you already have.
- Sell or trade pieces you no longer want
You don’t need a shop to sell a few items as long as you have Instagram. If you aren’t interested in posting items and discussing prices, you can partner with thrift shops on Instagram to sell them for you and then, they get a cut. It’s a very simple way to get some money for new items without actually spending more money. Very budget friendly, innit?
- Have a budget.
Having a budget keeps you on track so you don’t go crazy and just buy anything and everything.
- Make a list
It’s very important to know how much you’re willing to spend on updating your wardrobe (a budget) before making the list of items you need. Why? Because, if you do it the other way around, you may be forced to overspend. Something we want to avoid.
When making your list, be sure to include items you can wear all year round and for different occasions as well. And! Don’t be afraid to try out different outfit combinations.
- Make your own stuff
I’m an avid believer of making your own stuff. That’s why I have an entire page dedicated to DIYs. You don’t need to buy every trendy item. Sometimes, all you need to do is tweak items you already own. Don’t worry if you struggle to come up with ideas of that sort, I have a bunch of DIYs you can try and a lot more to come. Stay tuned.
Now, you can have a brand new looking wardrobe without spending much. I hope you find these tips useful and I’ll see you next time. Love and light to you and your family. X
